Recreational Trail Map Series for the Florida Trail Association
A Recreational Trail Map Series for the Florida Trail Association (FTA) was completed in June 1999 by the GeoPlan Center. ESRI's ArcPlot module of Arc/Info and AML were used to create the maps. The series is currently being transferred to ESRI's ArcView software, and is expected to be updated on an annual basis.
There are two types of maps in this series: the Continuous Trail Maps, and the Loop Trail Maps. The Continuous Trail Maps focus on the Florida National Scenic Trail (FNST), a continous long trail within Florida. The Loop Trail Maps depict shorter Florida Trails that are considered to be day hikes.
There are 42 Continuous Trail Maps, and 31 Loop Trail Maps. The Continuous Trail Maps are at 1:100,000 scale; and either 17" wide by 11" high, or 11" wide by 17" high. Two of the Loop Trail Maps are 1:100,000 scale, the rest are 1:50,000 scale. The Loop Trail Maps are 17" wide by 11" high, or 11" wide by 8.5" high, or 8.5" wide by 11" high.

Ichetucknee Springs Protection Study
Our study group was developed from a joint venture between the University of Florida's Urban and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture Departments, in an effort to design a future land use plan for the Ichetucknee basin area. The study group was composed of 17 graduate students and 2 faculty advisors. The study's main focus is the protection of the unique public and natural resources of the Ichetucknee Springs. |

Land Use Plan for Sarasota and Manatee Counties
The Environmental Design Practicum is a collaborative studio offered
annually in the Spring semester to students from the Urban and Regional
Planning and Landscape Architecture Departments in the University of Florida's
College of Design, Construction and Planning. The professors are Peggy Carr of
Landscape Architecture and Paul Zwick of Urban and Regional Planning.
The Spring of 2000 class project challenged students to create a land use plan
for the Florida counties of Sarasota and Manatee (see map). The project began
with a target date for the future land use plan of 2020. However, during the
course of the work it became evident that the resulting plan had the potential
to serve as a destination plan for both counties. |

Flagler County Study
The 2002 Environmental Design Practicum tasked graduate students to create a future land use plan
for Flagler County, Florida, a coastal development scenario plan, and a redevelopment plan for downtown
Flagler Beach. The project began with a target date for the future land use plan of 2050.
However, during the course of the work it became
evident that the resulting plan had the potential to serve
as a destination plan for Flagler. This was due to the
following: the resulting plan's capacity to accommodate
population growth well in excess of that projected for
2050, and the discovered need to protect existing
agricultural and conservation lands as non-renewable
resources.
